The Three invaluable Awards in my Life as a Teacher

    The Three invaluable awards
        I got from the Students
     in recognition to my Service.

1. One student from the first batch of the Commerce Vocational Studies viz. Sujatha after passing out the course and getting employment, came to the College with her first salary and presented it to me. She said " Sir, you deserve to receive it from me than my beloved father."  I forcefully returned the amount to her, retaining a hundred rupee note from that as a memento. I am still keeping it with me as a precious award for my service.

2. While I was HOD of the Department of Corporate Secretaryship, a student viz. Padma Priya committed suicide due to depression. Later we came to know that she had clandestine marriage relationship with a French man, who came to Pondicherry on a bicycle expedition.

A couple of days later a visitor came to the Department and offered me a parcel and told that it is sent by Padma Priya's mother. It was a metal sculpture of the Lord Nataraja, which was kept on Padma Priya's study table from her childhood.  He added that Padma Priya left a note stating that, it is her last wish to present this to her HOD, Prof. Sabarinath.

I consider that gift as more valuable than any other award or recognition  for a teacher - student relationship and my wife keeps it in her Pooja Room.

3. A couple of years after my retirement in 2012, I came from Kerala to the SBI branch at JIPMER. A grey haired lady came to me and introduced herself as one of my first batch of students in Corporate Secretaryship in BGCW viz. Gurulekshmi.

After a while she offered me five thousand rupees and told " Sir " I took voluntary retirement from a bank. You may be very rich, still  you have to accept this humble gift from me for taking a new set of dress for you."

Returning the rest, I took one five hundred rupee note  from her pension money  and I am  keeping it as a precious memento even after demonetization of 500 rupee notes.
